Start With Your Problem
Delivery is slow. Quality is not where it should be. Or a bigger project needs a senior second pair of eyes. I start with your problem, then work on it with your team one or two days a week until the numbers move.
Where I Can Help
These are examples, not a menu. If your problem is different, bring it.

For codebases and AWS bills that got away from you
Technical Debt Cleanup
What to fix first and why, then fixed in that order
Infrastructure Cost
Find the waste and cut it, without adding risk
Architecture Modernization
Incremental changes that don't require a rewrite
System Reliability
Performance improvements that stop the 3am pages

Sales & Engineering Alignment
Commitments sales can make and engineering can keep
Launch Execution
What ships reaches customers, with sales ready to sell it
Build vs. Buy Decisions
Vendor choices made on cost and fit, then carried through

AI Integration & Automation
For teams with AI licences and no change in how work ships
AI Readiness
Where it creates value vs. where it's hype
Workflow Automation
Real time and money savings, not demos
AI Tool Integration
Into your existing systems, not a separate silo

How I Work
A 90-day engagement, one or two days a week. I measure first. What gets fixed comes from your problem and your numbers. I use the newest tools where they help most, and I put AI workflows into plan, code, review, test, and release.
See
Measure first. Know where the team is and what blocks it.
Stabilize
Stop the fires. Fix what blocks delivery first.
Scale
Grow the team without breaking it. Better review, test, and release.
Accelerate
Use the newest tools where they help most, in the stable parts of the system.
I don't bill hourly. The only guarantee: the Day-30 exit. You can stop after Day 30 and pay for Month 1 only. No conditions.
Common Questions
What do you actually take on?
I am a senior engineering leader who still writes code. I do not bring a ready-made answer. I start with your problem, then use my experience, the newest tools, and your team to get the result. I embed one or two days a week and own the problem until the numbers move. I usually start with slow delivery, quality or process that is not where it should be, or a bigger project that needs a senior second pair of eyes. A different problem is fine too.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
I primarily work with growth-stage companies that have product-market fit, typically $5M–$50M in revenue with 10–200 people and engineering teams of 5–50. If you're pre-product-market fit, you might be better served by a full-stack founding engineer than by an embedded executive.
Can you help with AI integration?
Yes. I do not just add a coding assistant. I put AI workflows into the whole delivery cycle (plan, code, review, test, release) where they have the most impact, with tested, reusable skills.
Do you work remotely or on-site?
Both. I'm based in Toronto and work with companies across North America. Month one includes on-site time with your team. After that the work can be hybrid, depending on what it needs.
How do you charge for your services?
I don't bill hourly. We agree on scope and targets upfront, so you know the cost before we start. Both run as a 90-day engagement.
- One day a week
- $10,000 CAD/month
- Two days a week
- $17,000 CAD/month
After Day 90 the work can continue at the same rate, or as an ongoing one-day-a-week operating partner role at $10,000 CAD/month.
Interim leadership, due diligence and fixed-scope projects have their own prices on the how I work page. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
The only guarantee: the Day-30 exit. You can stop after Day 30 and pay for Month 1 only. No conditions.
Why one person instead of a firm?
Firms staff the work with junior people and write reports. I do the work myself. I write code, fix architecture, sit in standups and pipeline reviews, and build systems. You get 25 years of experience directly, not filtered through account managers.
Can you help us hire a full-time CTO?
Yes. By the end of month one I know whether you need a full-time CTO and what profile would work best. I define the role, interview candidates, and hand the work over when they start.
Not sure where to start?
Book a time. I'll tell you what's actually broken and whether I'm the right person to own it. Every engagement starts with a free Lite assessment: a short questionnaire, a one-page readout, and a 30-minute call.
